Minister Owen Darrell spent about $20,000 in travel expenses for 2023

According to the Government’s Travel Calendar the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, the Hon. Owen Darrell has travelled the most out of the four Ministers listed as travelling so far in the year of 2023. In total, the Minister has spent $19,275.67 with his most expensive trip totalling an amount of $7,506.91 for his trip to the 10th Commonwealth Youth Ministers Meeting in September.

However – not listed on the website – below you’ll find a graph made of copy and paste words found in press releases or social media posts in regards to travels made by the Hon. Premier David Burt. These travels were not listed on the calendar travel list on the government’s website. I have sent an email to the government’s media communication on November 29, 2023 in regards to whether the Hon. Premier may have paid for his own expenses or if they have not yet updated the travel expenses list. I will update this story once I have an official answer.

In regards to questions posed by the community about incentives being made for persons to have babies in Bermuda, I calculated what the total amount of money would be given to parents who had babies in 2022 if the money was allocated from the travel expenses to people who had children.

Is it worth it?
