The Premier Hon. David Burt accepted the resignation of Rolfe Commissiong as the Minister of Community Affairs and Sports, on October 10, 2020. He also asked the Governor to revoke Mr.Commissiong from the Senate.
Why did Mr. Commissiong resign as the Minister of Community Affairs and Sports? The notice to the Premier did not include detail, but it does mention withholding information at an earlier date. Information that was asked by the Premier.
On October 8, the Premier David Burt made it known to the community who he was to have as his Ministers. Almost immediately after, Social Justice Bermuda (SJB Facebook Page) sent out a statement to MEDIA MAYA – which was posted on our Instagram story.

Questions were raised: why did the Premier make Mr. Commissiong Leader of the Senate and replace a female Minister -of Community Affairs and Sports- Hon. Lovitta Foggo, JP, MP, with a man accused of sexual harassment?
In an Instagram poll, 92% of 261 people voted that Mr. Commissiong should be replaced.
Now – Mr. Commissiong has resigned and the Premier has asked the Governor to revoke him from the Senate. The community had this to say:
Now, the Premier must appoint a new Minister of Community Affairs and Sports, as well as a new leader for the Senate.
