In the western world, January is widely known to be a time to set new resolutions and personal goals for the year ahead. Most of us focus on business/career, fitness/health, finances and family goals, which are all important and integral aspects of life. Today, I’d like us to consider the area we often forget; goals related to intimacy and sex. Although we hate to admit it, intimacy is a need that deserves as much prioritization as fitness and wellness.
A 2017 article on intimacy and how it impacts your life shares research done by the University of California San Francisco who discovered the benefits of sexual activity to the body’s cells — and how this cellular advantage (especially in the context of a loving relationship) can slow down the aging process and actually increase our lifespan.
So with that in mind, here are some examples of intimacy goals you can set for yourself this year:
Be more present
Enforce boundaries
Communicate more intentionally with your partner(s)
Pee after sex (every time)
Express when you are uncomfortable
Ask for what you want (in the bedroom and in your relationships)
Explore tantric sex
Fall in love with yourself
Try something that you’ve been curious about
Have more meaningful sex
Use more lube
Improve your flexibility
Take more sensual selfies (for your own files)
Explore different masturbation styles and sensations
Get tested regularly
